Create, redefine or delete a flatplan

Use the drop-down menu to change between flatplans or to create a new one. Use the ‘edit’ function to rename a flatplan or give it a new subhead. If you choose to delete your flatplan, Blinkplan will ask you first whether you want to save a PDF for your records.

Define print-section sizes

You tell Blinkplan how many sections you’re printing, and what size each one is, and Blinkplan makes sure you have the right number of pages by informing you if you’ve created too many or too few. You can change these sections any time without losing any information. (If there are page numbers without pages at the end of your flatplan, you need to fill more pages. If there are pages without page numbers, you need to delete some.)

Categorise pages, which will be totalled automatically

You can define up to 30 page categories – for example, ‘advertising’ or ‘editorial’. Once you’ve chosen a category for a page, it is added to the total, so that you always know how many of each type of page you have. Pages can also be divided up to accommodate smaller ads.

Move pages, with automatic reflow

It’s easy to move single pages and double-page spreads (DPSs). When you shift a DPS, all the other DPSs reflow automatically. Blinkplan also has a Drop Zone, where you can keep pages that you aren’t ready to place yet.

Send your flatplan to colleagues

A Blinkplan flatplan can be saved as a PDF in a matter of seconds. This small file format makes it ideal for e-mailing as an attachment. If you prefer, you can click on ‘e-mail flatplan’, where you can fill in addresses or create mailing groups – for example, ‘sales’ or ‘art department’. This function e-mails a PDF directly to the recipients. The PDF is printer-friendly and includes the key, section and stitch-in information and any notes you may have added.

Add a stitch-in using the automatic location calculator

Stitch-ins or bind-ins have to happen in between print sections or at the exact midpoints of print sections. Blinkplan calculates every possible location for a stitch-in so that you can choose the best spot, then inserts the details of each stitch-in in the margin.
